New Continuline Acoustic Louvres Meet Market Needs

IAC Acoustics continues to innovate and develop its product lines through feedback from acousticians, specifiers, architects and contractors, across multiple market sectors.  The newest edition to our product range is the Continuline Acoustic Louvres – this is a complementary product to our well established and market leading acoustic louvre brands, Noishield and Slimshield.  The new design offers an enhanced aesthetic with a continuous horizontal blade.  The visual demands of architects for a continuous high quality aesthetic to louvre facades as part of, or adjacent to the core building envelope, have seen a consistent rise in demand for an uninterrupted sight-line finish.

On a recent project with a very well known UK brand of high performance small domestic appliances, Wilkinson Eyre Architects  were looking for a high performance acoustic louvre with a continuous blade to treat a chiller compound.  It was a critical need to match the design of the acoustic louvre to the surrounding continuous blade non-acoustic weather louvres on adjacent buildings.

The IAC Acoustics engineering team developed a solution, adapting our existing SL-100 Slimshield acoustic louvre while providing the continuous blade appearance with discrete shadow gaps.  The Continuline Acoustic Louvre solution was commissioned to provide acoustic envelope treatment to two chiller compounds at approximately 13m and 17m in length and 5m deep.  At 3m high the design ensured visual and acoustic privacy.  Fabricated in galvanised mild steel and custom painted to the clients specification in polyester powder coat, the compounds additionally provide acoustic louvre single personnel access doors, with additional double doors for maintenance access purposes.

Crucially as with all IAC Acoustics projects, the core demand of the client’s specification was to ensure the acoustic louvres delivered on the acoustic performance as well as the visual element.  The IAC Engineering team have ensured that in both the Slimshield and Noishield Continuline Louvre designs, the acoustic performance characteristics have been maintained as with the current standard tested designs.

Since the initial introduction of the Continuline Louvre to the Noishield and Slimshield range IAC Acoustics has received a significant amount of positive feedback from architects looking for a continuous blade acoustic louvre solution.  The products are now embedded as a core part of the specification on a number of industrial, commercial and high-end domestic projects where the client demands outstanding visual and acoustic performance around plant installations.
